Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using GrassDB, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Service Description

GrassDB is a managed PostgreSQL database platform. We provide database provisioning, a management portal, a PostgreSQL wire-protocol proxy, and REST API access. The service is hosted on Microsoft Azure infrastructure.

3. Account Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and database passwords.
  • You must provide accurate registration information including a valid email address.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' databases or the platform infrastructure.
  • Intentionally overload the service or interfere with other users' access.
  • Store or transmit malicious code, malware, or content that infringes on intellectual property rights.
  • Resell or redistribute the service without authorization.

5. SMS Communications

If you provide a phone number during registration, you consent to receive SMS messages from GrassDB including account notifications, security alerts, and service updates. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on account activity. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. This consent is a condition of receiving SMS communications and cannot be opted out of while a phone number is associated with your account. You may remove your phone number from your account at any time to stop receiving SMS messages.

6. Data and Content

  • You retain ownership of all data you store in your GrassDB databases.
  • We do not access your database content except as necessary to operate the service or comply with legal obligations.
  • You are responsible for maintaining backups of your data. While we provide Azure-managed backup retention (7 days), we do not guarantee data recovery beyond this period.

7. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The platform runs on Azure Burstable-tier infrastructure and is subject to the limitations of that tier. We are not liable for downtime, data loss, or service interruptions.

8. Resource Limits

Each account is subject to resource limits including connection limits, storage quotas, and database count limits. These limits may change as the platform scales. We will provide notice before reducing limits that affect existing usage.

9. Termination

  • You may close your account at any time by contacting us.
  • We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these terms, with or without notice.
  • Upon termination, your databases and data will be deleted.

10. Limitation of Liability

GrassDB is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We will notify registered users of material changes via email.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of the applicable jurisdiction.
